Special Investigators Probe Police Case In Brussels

Brussels | by Peter Jackson
OPP say SIU called in, after suspect complained of injury after interaction with police.

The province's Special Investigations Unit is looking into an incident in Brussels.

Huron OPP say last Friday they responded to a disturbance call at a home in the Huron East village, where an intoxicated man was causing damage to the house.

Police say the suspect was arrested peacefully, but he later complained of an injury and received treatment in hospital.

A 38 year-old Palmerston man is charged with three counts of mischief and one count of assault.

The SIU is called in whenever a suspect is injured or dies as the result of interaction with police.
