Infrastructure Minister Promises More Attention For Rural Ontario

Monte McNaughton made announcement during OPP ground-breaking in Clinton.

Ontario's Infrastructure Minister is promising more assistance for rural Ontario, than the former Liberal regime.

Progressive Conservative MPP for Lambton-Kent-Middlesex, Monte McNaughton, made the comments, ahead of the groundbreaking for an OPP detachment in Clinton.

McNaughton says the former Liberal government "neglected" the needs of rural Ontario, something he feels the PC regime has moved to correct.

He tells Country 104.9 News it is important police forces have modern facilities in which to operate.

In addition to the Clinton detachment, the province is funding new OPP offices in Moosonee, Fort Frances, Hawkesbury, West Parry Sound, Manitoulin Island, Mississauga, Marathon, and Orillia.

The Minister says more funding will be also announced for roads and bridges, and track investments for the horse racing industry.

A deal was struck in November between the province and the Dresden Raceway to continue horse racing operations at the facility.

During the provincial election, the Progressive Conservatives made a promise to bolster the horse racing industry.
