Huron-Bruce federal Liberal candidate Allan Thompson is opening his campaign headquarters in Goderich, marking the official start of his drive for election in October.
Thompson's campaign focuses on rural economic development, access to health care, mental health issues and the needs of seniors.
He also ran for the Liberals in 2015, finishing a close second to incumbent Conservative MP Ben Lobb.
Thompson moved to Goderich a year ago, and runs a strategic communications firm located in the downtown area.
His career includes stints as a political correspondent for the Toronto Star and a journalism professor at Carleton University in Ottawa, during which time he also published three books.
Thompson's campaign office is at 61 Hamilton Street, just off Courthouse Square, and officially opens at 10am Saturday.
