The Huron County Cycling Strategy continues to be a work in progress toward a safer local road environment.
The strategy was first adopted with County Council's backing in early 2017, and members of several cycling groups attended a recent update report presentation.
Cyclist Dan Barry acted as spokesperson for the groups.
He says cycling enthusiasts and motorists must continue to work together for the good and safety of both groups.
Barry believes the quality of Huron's roads could be a boost for tourism, once word gets out that there is a variety of challenges posed by the local terrain and geography.
He mentions that unlike some areas, Huron offers both flat and straight roads, as well as routes offering tight curves and twists that test cyclists' abilities.
Barry advocates working with the County to make more rural roads usable for cyclists, to help reduce the number of bikes on highways and main County roads.
