The Mayor of Huron East expects funding from senior levels of government to continue to be an issue in 2018.
Bernie MacLellan is responding to an annual reduction in Ontario Municipal Partnership Funding dollars that has left municipalities picking up the pieces.
The dwindling funding is something numerous municipalities and counties have publicly grieved, including Huron East and Huron County.
MacLellan says Bill 148, which assures a $14 an hour minimum wage, will also likely play a role in the fiscal year for his municipality.
Two elections are also scheduled for 2018.
With a provincial election planned for June, MacLellan says municipalities may see additional dollars from the province, as a possible means to pick up votes.
He tells us any relief for ratepayers is welcomed news.
A municipal election is also scheduled for October.
