The Four Winds Wedding and Event Barn is helping to bring new economic life to Brussels.
Huron County is recognizing that contribution with a cultural award for Bryan Morton, whose idea it was to move the structure to the village and develop it as a wedding venue.
Huron East Economic Development Officer Jan Hawley tells us new accommodations are opening up in the village, and other spinoffs are developing as well.
A previous “Win This Space” contest winner, Jackie Dewitt has already opened two new businesses and is working on a third.
Hawley says the new venture occupies a previously-vacant storefront downtown, and is aimed at the artistic community.
She believes the barn will attract more new businesses, and predicts that at its present pace Brussels could develop into a community-wide attraction rivalling St. Jacobs.
