It’s good news, in Huron-Perth’s battle against respiratory illnesses.
Huron Perth Public Health (HPPH) says respiratory illness season indicators are stabilizing or improving in the region.
Unfortunately, COVID-19 continues to affect the region’s long-term care homes.
As of January 25, 2023 there were two active COVID-19 outbreaks in long-term care homes and 10 people in hospital due to the virus.
An update earlier in the month had only five people in hospital from the virus.
HPPH has recorded eight deaths due to COVID since January 1, 2023, with seven associated with COVID-19 outbreaks at long-term care homes, while one was a community-related death.
The individuals were between the ages of 70 and 99 years.
