Funding is coming from the province for hydrogen production in Goderich and Seaforth.
Six projects will split the $7.5 million Hydrogen Innovation Fund to integrate hydrogen into the province’s electricity system.
The projects in Seaforth and Goderich will produce hydrogen and ammonia for fertilizer production.
Another project receiving funding is in Port Elgin, where a 500-kW hydrogen production, compression and storage facility will be built.
The Port Elgin project is meant to demonstrate the grid benefits of electrolysis while producing hydrogen fuel for Ontario’s first publicly accessible hydrogen fueling station.
