The County of Huron is going to continue their cross-border billing agreement with Bruce County for Paramedic Services.
The two counties have had an agreement since 2001, that would allow Huron County’s paramedic services to assist the southern end of Bruce county for ambulatory services, and Bruce County would reimburse the cost.
All calls for service are tracked by the province’s Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, and recognizes cross border costs as part of the financial process for municipalities.
Paramedic Services Director Jeff Horseman says that he’s had meetings with his Bruce County counterpart, Steve Schaus to discuss terms of continuing the agreement for another five years, as the last agreement had expired in December 2021.
Huron County helps provide daytime service for the southern border of Bruce County as part of the agreement, particularly in the towns of Lucknow and Ripley.
Huron County also has a similar agreement with Perth County.
