Huron County Council has approved the purchase of two new ambulances.
The vehicles will be purchased from Demers Ambulances for $657,304.
According to the current vehicle decommissioning policy, ambulances are in service for five years, and in a vehicle’s sixth year, it gets replaced.
The county’s Emergency Services department had reached out to two companies for the replacement vehicles, but only one responded, as the second company does not produce the type of ambulance used in Huron County.
The new ambulances will be equipped with a UV air sterilization system, as well as a HEPA filter system, which would help to prevent the transmission of airborne respiratory illnesses.
The new vehicles are expected to be delivered in December 2025.
