The Town of Goderich is warning not to panic, when military presence ramps up in the town next month.
The Canadian Armed Forces will be conducting an emergency exercise in Huron and Bruce Counties between Friday, May 3rd and Sunday, May 5th.
Officials say residents will notice heightened military presence throughout the town that weekend, and there is no reason for concern.
According to a news release, “soldiers will be conducting fire fighting training, wellness checks, simulated search and rescue operations, establishing cooling centres, as well as other activities.”
The military training will span Huron and Bruce counties.
Wellness checks or “door knocks” will be performed in Goderich on Saturday, May 4th, to simulate what would happen if soldiers were asked to check on the well-being of residents during an actual emergency.
