Huron County Council has approved the tender for exterior improvements to the exterior of 250 Picton Street.
The 12-unit apartment building was built in 1969, and although it met building standards of the time, was built with minimal insulation on the exterior walls.
The building is also heated with electric baseboard heaters, and the windows have reached the end of their lifecycle.
Council approved the tender be awarded to True Trough Ltd. for $275,769.60 to improve exterior insulation and replace the aging windows.
The improvements will not only make the building a more comfortable place to live, but also reduce operating costs for the building.
New insulation and more efficient cladding will be installed as part of the upgrades.
