Recreational use on local trails remains high, according to an update from the county’s forest conservation group.
During Wednesday’s Huron County Council meeting, council received an update from Forest Conservation Officer Dave Pullen.
In 2024, the county had completed an accessible trail and boardwalk in the Hays Tract south of Goderich, and completed periodic winter maintenance in the most used forest parking lots.
Twelve of fourteen county tracks are also now included in the Hiking Guide that is offered by the county.
Conservation efforts continue, with mitigation of invasive plant and insect species.
That includes resources for plant identification to allow for reporting invasive plants such as Giant Hogweed and Wild Chervil.
