The work at the Zurich Patrol Yard is progressing, with a contractor chosen for the removal of the existing underground fuel tanks.
The contract has been awarded to G.R. Wilfong & Son Ltd. for the work.
The underground fuel tanks and pumps need to be removed, as they were installed in 1980 and are at the end of their life cycle. They also no longer meet regulatory requirements, as they are single-walled steel tanks and aging piping.
The two existing tanks will be replaced, with a third tank to be added for dyed diesel.
The work will cost the county $519,411.
