A local artist who gifted one of his paintings to council will have his work displayed at town hall.
Christopher Sallows, who is an artist, and the great-great-nephew of photographer R.R. Sallows, presented his painting of a kestral to council at Monday’s meeting.
The framed, oil-on-canvas work was also accompanied by a hand sketch of the original work.
Sallows shared that the painting was titled “Evening Beauty”, which shows a female common kestral perched on a tree branch.
The painting will be displayed in the foyer of Town Hall, and will be visible form the courtyard, so everyone will be able to see it even when the municipal building is closed.
The painting took six months to complete.
The kestral is a member of the falcon family, and Sallows explained that he has always loved painting birds ever since he picked up the artform when he was a child.
