A Goderich native will be taking the mound for Canada at the upcoming World Baseball Classic.
Righty Brock Dykxhoorn has been added to Canada’s roster for the upcoming classic, which kicks off March 3rd throughout the United States.
Dykxhoorn replaces right-handed pitcher Carter Loewen, who was removed from the roster due to an insurance issue.
The 31 year old Dykxhoorn is currently a member of the Uni-President Lions of the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL).
He was selected in the sixth round of the 2014 draft by the Houston Astros, and spent five years in the affiliated ranks, before reaching triple-A in 2018.
Canada opens the World Baseball Classic on March 3rd against the Toronto Blue Jays in Dunedin, Florida.
