After four years in the Goderich Mayor's chair, Kevin Morrison has presided over his last meeting of Town Council.
Morrison was defeated by John Grace in the October 22nd municipal election after one term in the town's top elected job.
He was first elected as a member of Council in 2010, then defeated long-time incumbent Mayor Deb Shewfelt in 2014.
Looking back, Morrison says he enjoyed the job and has no regrets.
He points to a spirit of teamwork among Councillors and staff, that helped accomplish projects that had been planned for as long as 30 years in some cases.
Morrison mentions the Comfort Inn hotel and conference centre, the Recreation Park revitalization and expansion of the Maitland Valley Medical Centre among Council's accomplishments.
He's proud of all three, and reflects on the team effort that resulted in the cost of the medical centre project being reduced to $1.6 million from a starting figure of over 5 million.
Morrison admits his downfall may have come about partly because of the pace of change since 2014.
Mayor-elect John Grace and the new Goderich Council will be sworn into office during the inaugural meeting for the new term next Monday.
