Goderich council has taken the first step toward finalizing a budget for this year.
During a special meeting Monday evening, council’s deliberations have worked out to a budget that would include a tax increase so far of 7% before anything is finalized.
Mayor Trevor Bazinet says that he, like other council members may not be happy with such a large increase, but if council could agree upon it, then he would support it.
Issues discussed during Monday’s meeting would be revisited at a later date to help shape the operating and capital budget for this year.
