Two people from Central Huron are safe after having to be rescued from their tractor near the Maitland River following a flash flood that left them stranded.
OPP received a distress call from the pair just before 1 o’clock Thursday afternoon, as they were stranded in rising waters near Fern Hurst Glen Lane.
Police responded with Goderich Fire Department, Huron County EMS, Lambton Shores Fire Department, and volunteers from Huron and Area Search and Rescue (HASAR).
An inflatable boat was used to rescue the two, and they were then taken to hospital as a precaution.
The OPP warns that the large amount of snow we’ve received over the winter is expected to melt quickly.
