Huron County council has approved the addition of two signs on busy roads to encourage people to report impaired drivers.
Following a presentation to council by two members of MADD Huron/Bruce, council approved the two signs, after approving an exemption from the county’s sign by-law.
The initial motion would have recommended that staff be directed to bring a report for council’s consideration. Councillor Paul Klopp said that a report shouldn’t be necessary to have the signs installed.
MADD, or Mothers Against Drunk Driving, already has the signs made and available for installation.
Councillor George Finch recommended that the motion needed would also have the county absorb the cost of installation to reinforce the partnership between Huron County and MADD Huron/Bruce.
MADD Huron/Bruce shared that November has the highest instance of impaired driving incidents in Huron County.
