A big donation to the Wingham & District Hospital will help expand medical imaging to the region.
The Wingham & District Hospital Foundation announced a $60 thousand donation from the Lucknow & District Kinsmen, which will help purchase a new bone density scanner.
Bone density scans are an important diagnostic tool that help detect osteoporosis and assess fracture risk.
The foundation recently celebrated the completion this year of two big projects, including the purchase of a new CT scanner, and upgrades to breast cancer screening.
Wait times from breast screening to results have been reduced from up to 11 weeks in 2023 to just 4–5 weeks in 2025.
The expanded breast cancer screenings include: Digital mammography, contrast mammography, and high-resolution ultrasound for dense breasts.
