Huron County council has once again chosen not to proceed with the proposed roundabout at the intersection of County Road 83 and Airport Line.
Wednesday’s county council meeting started off with a delegation from a resident that lived near the intersection, calling on council to reconsider the decision to remove the project from the 2026 capital budget.
The decision to remove the project was made by a majority vote of council during their last meeting, on March 4th.
At the last Council meeting, Huron County Council requested staff to review updated collision information at the intersection of County Road 83 and Airport Line.
Staff was also asked to provide information regarding legal impacts of the deferral of the project and any other financial or logistical impacts of cancelling or deferring the project.
A motion was put forward on Wednesday to suspend normal procedures to re-add the roundabout to the budget, which required a two-thirds vote from the 15 members of council.
With a vote of 8-7, which was a majority but not two-thirds, the motion was defeated, and the roundabout was not re-added to budget discussions.
