Ontario’s only banana farm is moving operations outside Ontario’s West Coast.
The Blyth-based Canada Banana Farms announced via Facebook their final open house will be May 20th.
Tenant Administrator Terry Brake says the business has not felt welcomed by officials with North Huron and Huron County.
Canada Banana Farms was given a stop work order in 2015, after municipal officials ordered the farm to provide building permits for the pop-up “hoophouses” used to grow produce.
Brake says sour feelings between his farm and the municipality have disrupted business, and he is now looking for a new location to operate.
He tells us private tours became popular in 2016, with engagements booked through the month of August.
No word on where Canada Banana Farms will relocate.
